Fascinating research on interoception ~ a person’s sensitivity to sensations inside the body. People with eating disorders struggle to identify hunger and satiety cues. They also misread the size of their bodies by as much as 20%. So this is why people with Anorexia or Bulimia or EDNOS see their bodies as bigger than they are. The best part of the study done by Tiffany Rain Carei of Seattle Children’s Hospital is…wait for it…an 8-week, hour-long session of yoga improved interoceptive skills and reduced body dissatisfaction. It helps people become more attuned to their bodies! Amen! 🙂
